Chapter 19

I WANT to run ten miles or smoke a half a pack of cigarettes, and I know which one would be easier. My stress levels are making my skin feel like it might rip in two like a bad sci-fi movie. My baby brother is a train wreck, and my mom is up my butt, and maybe with good reason even though I fantasized about matricide through most of dinner tonight. My baby brother thinks I’m just as big a slimy cheater as he is, and my life partner and whatever Xavier is seem to be okay again. Did Xavier lie to Duncan? Lying isn’t really his speed. Does Duncan actually not care I was two seconds from fucking Xavier’s mouth as hard as he could handle? He’s been there with me. He had to recognize the look on my face.

“Are you mad at me?” I ask without ripping my gaze from the television. I’m talking to them both for different reasons. I should have followed Xavier. I should have manned up and really talked to Duncan.

“We kissed and made up without you,” Xavier replies. His face is almost immobile. Duncan snickers from my right side and I can feel my eyes opening wider than usual. Xavier is actually blushing and Duncan has a smug look on his face. My brain clicks along. Oh, really?

“I missed it?”

“We could do it again. What do you say, Xavier?”

“Yes. Please.” His heated gaze lingers on Duncan and then me. Duncan leans around me and Xavier hunches toward him, and I have a front-row seat for a passionate lip-lock. I can’t breathe watching Duncan take over Xavier the way he has me time and again. I can see the moment when Xavier gives in and Duncan surges forward, cupping Xavier’s face with his hands. They break apart roughly and Duncan kisses me the same way. Hard, fast, thorough. Xavier’s arm around me pulls me closer to him.

“Stay the night?” I slide my hand from his knee up his thigh and he swallows hard. He covers my hand with his and stops it a few inches from my goal.

“I would love to, but I’m… I think I should tell you I’m extremely limited in my experience, so you may not want me to.”

“We do.” Duncan reassures him and all my lights are green. Duncan’s committed in his way. I’m primed.

We’re really going to bring someone else in. We’re going to do this. I think I might black out from the blood rushing south, and the “Hallelujah Chorus” blasting my mind’s ear. I’m going to get to fuck someone else, other than Duncan, for the first time ever.
